Well-reputed pork for its safety and taste
Through the collaborative efforts made by Itoshima agricultural cooperative association (JA), the high-quality pork has been produced. The pork has
been branded as “Itoshima Pig.” Itoshima pigs are bred patiently in clean
and drafty piggeries. The number of pigs raised every year is estimated
to reach 35,000.
They are marketed mainly in Fukuoka or Saga Prefecture areas, getting high
acclaim and significant market shares.
Moreover, using “SAFETY, SECURITY, TASTY” as their business motto, another
Itoshima brand “Genkai Pork” has been newly produced in 2008.
The farmers standardized breed variety and feeding procedure, and “Genkai
Pork” has been produced by giving adequate water facilities and feedstuffs,
including those of relatives to wheat.
As per results basis, the taste is excellent. Also, the brand of “Genkai
Pork” is catching on as a new brand of Itoshima pork which now appears
on the menu for emphasized “Genkai Pork” among restaurants in Fukuoka Prefecture.

What we call Itoshima beef is the beef produced by the dairy farmers who
participate in the commercial cattle group of Itoshima agricultural cooperative
association (JA) Endearingly grown with great attention by the dairy farmers,
the amount of Itoshima beef reaches to about 600 to 700 cows per year.
They are marketed mainly in Fukuoka metro area and have the reputation
for their tastes and high quality fleshes.
You could buy the Itoshima beef at ITOSAISAI ( JA directly managed store),
selected supermarkets or farmer's markets. They are also available in cafes
and broiled meat (Yakiniku) restaurants.

Itoshima Oyster |
Milk from the ocean born in Nature.
Oysters are very good source of glycogen, protein, and iron. This is why
they are nicknamed “Milk from the ocean.”
Oyster season is during fall and winter, which is when they store plenty
of nutrition and rich flavor.
Itoshima Oyster Cabins are a newly popular sight-seeing stop for oyster
lovers, because you can enjoy delicious oysters being cooked right in front
of your eyes. They also sell whole oysters (with shells) to go and they are available
at several direct sales depots throughout Itoshima, such as Shima no Shiki,
Fuku-Fuku no Sato, and others.
Itoshiman oysters are proudly known for their freshness, rich flavor,
safety, and the reasonable cost set by local Fisheries Co-operatives for
fair trade.
There are various ways to serve them including fried, grilled, or in hot
pot style. Raw oysters are the best in winter, with a little squeeze of

SHIMA NO SHIKI (four seasons in Shima) is well known as Itoshima’s direct
sales depot operated by JA Itoshima (Japan Agricultural Co-operatives Itoshima
division.)
The produce is super fresh, the variety and reasonable prices will be
a pleasant surprise. The seafood that arrives every morning from 5 ports
in Shima area is the most popular item. Local fishermen bring them in directly
from each port. The fish are so fresh that many of them can be seen swimming
lively in their in-store fishpond. The store provides many kinds of fish,
especially ones which are in season. These are a must-have!
If you need some recipe ideas, the friendly shop staff will show you how
to cook and give you some delicious tips for how to serve your purchases.
Not only is there seafood, the depot is also filled with fresh local produce
